Cairns artist uses breast milk to create magical portraits to order
Inspired by the popularity of DNA keepsakes a Cairns-based artist is breaking new ground by making one-off portraits created with her client’s own body fluid.
INSPIRED by the popularity of DNA keepsakes, a Cairns-based artist is breaking new ground by making one-off portraits created with her clients’ own body fluid.
What started as a hobby for IT worker turned artist Gina Jones has grown into a successful business creating personalised portraits using breast milk.
“It’s quite unique and as far as I am aware I am the only one to do it worldwide,” she said.
“I ended up creating my own method and it looks like there’s no breast milk in it …
“A few of my friends said you should post on Facebook and it just took off.”

She then paints over the stencils with your chosen inks and additives before removing the stencil to reveal the white space.
The stencil creations are based on client photos.

The painting is then sealed to stop mould and any smell.
Ms Jones said 10 per cent of all sales would be donated to the Australian Breastfeeding Association.
